Hi guys,
A friend is using an early retirement pension from his company to finance his on-line business for the past 2 years. His wife has been helping him but she has not declared herself a self employed on the basis that they have not made any money or income from the business. Now she has been told that she must declare herself as a partner/ selfemployed.
Q1- Can the husband split his pension money with his wife and show it as her income?
Q2- The wife is registered disabled but deos not get any benefits as she has not paid enough NI--. Can this be right as DSS haved been creditting her NI? for the past 3years.
Q3- As she does research for her husband--- reading and highlighting potentials about 4 hours a day, is she entitled to any TAX credits?
Q4- The husband is working about 35 hours a week, wife 18 Hes, can either of them claim TC as part of a couple.

I think credited contributions only count towards your State Pension.
I'm not sure how Tax Credits work, but I think you have to be working over 30 hours a week and/or have children.
Hopefully someone will be along soon who knows a bit more.(AKA HRH_MUngo)

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton0 -
How have DSS been crediting her?
Is she claiming Disability Living Allowance? DLA is not income related and anyone can claim it on top of any other income they have including benefits.
Tax Credits are worked out on the total hours/income of a joint claim.
They could phone the Benefits Enquiry Line - 0800 882200 (0800 220674 in Northern Ireland) or Minicom 0800 243355.Torgwen..........
