I have a Navman PiN sat nav (PDA)- battery went and lost all internal data as its had no power for a few months -
I have original disks win mobile OS and smartnav what i need to know is how to re install back to the navman in simple step form if possible. I have never done this before so i am unsure of the procedure.
Ps. soft and hard resets do not work all OS is gone the unit powers up fine now but screen blank due to no data on it.
Really just need the procedure of how to get the win mobile installed again and I think i will then be ok to install the smart nav disks back to get the sat nav up and running again.
Thanks in advance
Crystal

OS should be stored in ROM so can't be deleted and should display, the satnav program will probably need reloading. But if you can't see the OS it sounds like it has more issues.0

I had this issue once before on an hp ipaq the battery ran down and i lost all sat nav data installed. then i could never get it back thing ended in the bin ( i didnt have the original disks then)
I have all original disks and would really like to know how I can install the OS back to the navman. The low to non existant battery life I believe has lost some data needed to keep it operational.
Anyone with knowledge to install the OS original disk with key to a PDA Navman PiN I would be so pleased to hear how to do step by step if possible.

The OS is stored in ROM so cannot be deleted by a flat battery. You need to get it working first or you will never be able to load the satnav software.0

As Inner Zone says, the OS should be in non-volatile memory, so a flat battery should not stop it booting up when recharged. I know this from having recovered a long-flat PiN for a friend. You then use ActiveSync to reinstall the satnav app.
Sounds like it has a more basic fault, though if it's any consolation, you're not missing much. I tested a similar model (PiN 570 IIRC) against the Garmins of the time and really didn't like it. It was based on a chipset that was older than the SirfStar III, and the reception was very poor - drive through a forest and the satnav would just stop functioning. Even heavy rain would make it struggle to get a fix...0
