Just wanted to say don't count on this. I work on sainsburys checkouts and if, for instance, chicken breasts are £.5.99 buy 1 get 1 free, then they're reduced to say £2.99, youre BOGOF offer will only take off the £2.99. If however they're buy 2 save £5.00, your offer will still take off £5. Or if they were 2 for £7 but reduced to £2.99 each you'll still get the £4.98 or whatever off. Confused you enough yet?
Yep, I think you're right. I think they used to take the old price off with BOGOFs, but changed the system a few years ago. :)

laura, you right, I just wanted to empasize on set price reductions like the save £x or two for £x deals.
I used BOGOF as an example as it was simply to understand, but it turn out wrong. Thanks for correcting me.

I think funnyguy meant he bought other stuff as well, and got an extra 10% off the rest of his shopping. And -1p for the potatoes. :)

what I meant was i got 10% off the £1.33 charged for the potatoes (13p} then I got £1.34 back with the voucher..so I suppose you could say I saved 14p.... and I will give a free handy tip for money savers as well.I have had 4 children and I always encourage them to get their saturday/part time job in a supermarket if possible. My first child worked in tesco,s for 2 years and my youngest is now working in sainsbury,s..which saves the family a small fortune as you get 10-15% discount all the time{after 3months probation period} off your shopping .So if you spend say £50 a week {giving you £5 staff discount} and your child works their for approx.2 years you will save a minimum of £3650...not bad eh?..n.b. the child is allowed to have one member of the family named on the card so you can shop independently
