Buying a car - but no money! Options?

I have just got a new job after being unemployed for a few weeks. Is there a way I can buy a car and pay for insurance using a 0% credit card?

Does your mum / dad have a car?
Could you pay them the extra money to be a named driver on their insurance?
If you can, it will save you the cost of buying a car, running the car and insuring it. You will only have to pay the extra insurance to your mum / dad and put petrol in it when you use it.
Another option may be to use taxis? May sound expensive, but if you are only using them on the odd occasion it may work out cheaper than the cost of buying and running a car.0 -
My mum doesn't have a car, I've asked my dad over and over again if he could put me on his insurance on one of his cars (he has 2-one of which is an old banger he never uses) but he won't and I'm not sure why.
Taxi's are too expensive, it would be £30 there and back twice a week, which is most of my daily wage. I also get very bad travel sickness and would be sick!
Maybe I should tell my dad that I risk losing my job if I can't get transport there. Or maybe I should find another job..this one was hard enough to get though.Trying to spread calmness, understanding and optimism on MSE0 -

You sound a bit rural so I guess not, but are you anywhere near a car club? http://www.citycarclub.co.uk/Mortgage | £145,000Unsecured Debt | [strike]£7,000[/strike] £0 Lodgers | |0

Is your wage enough to buy a car? two shifts a week doesn't seem much.If i upset you don't stress, never forget that god aint finished with me yet.0 -
Otherwise, get a Scooter! Do your CBT for about £100 in one day (assuming you got your licence after 1997), buy a second-hand 125cc and leathers, a new helmet for safety reasons. Your insurance and tax will be very low, petrol costs negligible and you can park anywhere for free.Mortgage | £145,000Unsecured Debt | [strike]£7,000[/strike] £0 Lodgers | |0

No I'm full time, I do at least 2 days a week 15 miles away and the rest in my own town.
I think the best thing is to either ask my parents to lend me the money. They have said before that they would lend me some if it meant I had a job. Or ask my dad again to just ring up and I'd pay the extra.
Scooters are as expensive to buy as cars, then there's the CBT test, which I don't think exists anymore as they've made it harder.Trying to spread calmness, understanding and optimism on MSE0 -
