Yes, and also note the people who thank them.

I think these people are employed by the banks to deliberately undermine the site; on the internet you can pretend to be anyone you like.

But, "be nice to posters" :rotfl:

Ironic that you agree with vaporate that others on this thread are cynical when the only cynical posts (by definition) are the OP's original post, and yours.
Anything I post is my opinion, so from time to time I may be wrong. I try to provide answers based in fact, however I don't know everything, so (like all posters on MSE), take what I say with a pinch of salt.

I accept that perhaps subversives or fifth-columnists might have been a better discription of your utter intolerance of other people's mistakes.

You are no-doubt proud of your own absolute perfection. :T

Not so much an utter intolerance of people's mistakes, but an utter intolerance of spurious threads which fail to deal with the crux of a matter. Rather than the OP dealing with their son's inability to resolve an unarranged overdraft without a letter from the bank, they instead speculate as to motives behind said bank sending post 2nd Class.

If the OP had asked for advice in regards to their son's budgeting, avoiding charges, or even ways of retrieving charges then my response would have been completely different. However the main issue in this thread surrounded 2nd Class post.

The issue here regarded the simple critcism of a bank for its actions.

It is this which characterises you and your ilk. You rally together like flies round cow dung whenever a bank is criticised. You see no fault in the dubious practices of banks; indeed you cheer them on.

It is for this reason I feel you (collectively) are probably employed by the banks for the express purpose of undermining this site.

In part. More importantly, the OP's criticism goes on to imply they are to blame for the additional fees incurred on the account.

I've kept on topic (aside from responding to your initial "dig"), but you've decided to flame me because you don't like my stance on this issue and my mannerisms. If you think I'm breaching Forum Rules, report my posts, don't resort to petulant insults.

Halifax are tight with 1st Class stamps. There, I've found fault. Halifax send post 2nd Class to increase revenue from charges. Illogical nonsense. I apply a little rational thinking to an argument, regardless of whether this is in the banks favour or not. I would go so far as to argue that posters like yourself only see red when the "b" word is mentioned, and jump on the "blame the bank" bandwagon, regardless of reasoning or accountability.

I've had instances where egg have sent me letters 7 days apart & I've received them on the same day. I think that it's not just a case of them sending them second class but them not actually leaving the office on the day they're written.
I know that there are other ways to check you account but they should make an effort to get letters out to out to you at the earliest possible opportunity.
In my case I had no reason to check my account as I have had a dd set up paying off my egg loan for years. For some reason egg took it upon themselves to cancel this without advising me so they were writing to advise me that I had not made a payment.
I don't think that it's a conspiracy I just think that it's a cost saving measure which is poor customer service and in some cases just general incompetancy (egg, Grrr - lots of other non-related issues with them!)

Of course, some banks charges are really excessive as well. Lloyds have high charges (& as Halifax are now part of that organisation, I imagine their charges are high now). Never liked Halifax much anyway.

And like BlueAngel has said, sending important letters like this out 2nd class is poor customer-service. They should be notifying their customer of the situation as soon as possible. Not everyone has a mobile phone anyway, or uses them much even if they own one.
