Just come off the phone with Sainsburys customer services after noticing a note on their organic potatoes that said they will recycle the packaging.
They have confirmed they will take back any SO Sainsburys Organic packaging at their larger stores for recycling.
There's a little less in the wheelie bin

Check the wrappers for the So. range. Some of it IS compostable as it is made from vegetable stuff I think or perhaps its corn.
There should be directions on the back of label telling you if it can be composted safely.
I've composted lots of the so.. wrappers this way

Am I correct in thinking they take back ANY packaging from the SO Range for recylcing - even the non-recyclable stuff?
I have tonight consumed all the items I bought to get my free jute bag and decided I would test this theory but so far the cucumber wrapper, the raspberry and strawberry and mushroom packaging all state they are non-recyclable. If so how would Sainsbury's recycle it, unless they wash them up and reuse them I guess but I can't see it?
Should I bother taking them back in-store? What do you think?
Thanks

Liney - the girl on the phone line said any packaging - but as you say, if they're not shown as recyclable, you wonder what they'll do with it.
If it wasn't going to be a major problem, I'd be tempted to try, but I wouldn't like to think I was sending anyone on a fools errand.DFW Nerd no. 884 - Proud to [strike]be dealing with[/strike] have dealt with my debts0 -

Supermarket Sainsbury's is to sell more than 500 of its own-brand products in compostable packs instead of plastic as it seeks to cut packaging waste.0 -

Tesco's could have a real coo here if they offer their own brand products in this type of packaging and offer extra clubcard points for buying it!Treat others as you would like to be treated :A0
