AHA Glycolic Peels

I'm just about to finish a salon course of Silhouette 10% AHA glycolic peels. I've had one a week for 6 weeks (special offer price) . I am delighted at the results on my skin, which is noticeably smoother, more refined, brighter, more even-toned and youthful looking! Yipee. There really is a noticeable difference and have had several positive comments from people who don't know I've had the treatments.
However, when it goes back to normal salon price, I'll be reluctant to part with the £££. Does anyone do this at home, if so do can you recommend a reliable supplier for the products?
Boots also have this, which I suspect will be less effective, but might be OK for general upkeep for me now. Any one used it and have any comments?

No one else??:p
I wondered why I hadn't seen any recent threads on this topic!!
I hadn't really considered these peels until I was seduced by my salon's " Course of 6 for £60 offer". Very pleased with the results though and one way or another definitely want to continue to incorporate them into my regime.0 -
the Alpha -H range is a glycolic range and is pretty good. I definitely notice a difference in my skin when I use their products.
You can buy it from QVC but the Beauty Expert (I think -sorry can't remember) had a trial kit on a few weeks ago for £19 which contained 5 products. You may find using this will help to prolong the benefits of your salon treatments? HTH0 -
I got one from avon about 3 years ago and it didnt make any difference to my skin. i used it once a week like it said. i thought it was a waste of money. at that time i was buying alot of avon things and didnt think much of any of them. i might try the boots one myself. if you do try it let us now how it goes.0

I loooooove Alpha-H products as they've got the levels of Glycolic acid just perfect. A lot of the time GA can dry out your skin but Alpha-H get it just right. I believe they do a peel as well but I would personally suggest going to the Forever Young page on eBay as the woman there does an incredible selection of all different strengths of the three main acids. I can vouch for the quality (my mother is a Cosmetic Practitioner and one of her specialities is AHA/BHA peels so I'm very familiar with salon quality peeling products) and the price is astounding; I doubt you'll find cheaper elsewhere.Never argue with an idiot; they'll bring you down to their level and then beat you with experience.0

Hi ladies and thanks for your replies.
This was the product I had as a salon treatment, when it was on Special Offer!!

For anyone else interested, the Alpha H range that Santini and fabSascha mentioned is here

The products sound do sound lovely, especially the Liquid Gold, which I assume is a serum-equivalent.
Have also found the glycolic peel kits on the Forever Young site on ebay. They seem to be what I'm looking for and a cost effective solution. has anyone else purchased them from here? She does have massive positive feedback and the few negs she has seem to be re non delivery and communication rather than quality of product.

I'm surprised more people with "mature" skin aren't raving about this treatment tbh. The resulyts for me have been more instant and impressive than any amount of other creams/exfoliators/masks etc that I've ever used and I'm definitely a convert.
Revealing this fresh new skin has also been a stark reminder of the effect of sun on your face, despite always using cream with an SPF and suncream oin hols etc. The treatmant does of course strip off any tan you may have picked up this summer. A small price to pay. I've upped my SPF significantly for everyday use now and am fake tanning my fac e all the way now!! Well worth checking out, I'm a definite convert.
I can't find eveidence of any "issues" with this treatment, other than obviously making sure the products are used correctly. Has anyone else?
Thanks

The only negatives I've seen is a report implying that you risk accelerating the ageing process by stripping off the older skin cells which leaves the skin more vulnerable to sun damage.
Sounds like you are addressing that already though with the higher SPF sunscreen.0 -
I have bought quite a lot of creams and serums from Forever Young and never had a problem with her or anything i have bought. i have been using the 20% Salicylic Acid Chemical Peel as i have very oily skin and large pores and it has made a big difference to my skin. it does leave my skin red for a few hours and does peel but it is a different one to glycolic peels which i think i might try after i have finished this one off.0

Liquid Gold ( Alpha -H ) is one of the products I really like. I recently started with the Microcleanse (12%) glycolic as well.
Combining this with the OCM has seen my skin look really fresh & toned - so much so that several people have actually asked me if I have had anything "done"!
Much cheaper than plastic surgery with no risks of looking like some of celebs with their "fixed expression" faces.0 -
I use oil cleansing as well and had been pleased with my skin after that, so this is a bonus.
I'm a bit confused with the strengths of the Glycolic acid in products though. The salon Silhouette one I had was 10% and tbh it was tolerable but a tad uncomfortable for the 7 mins she left it on and I can't image using something stronger.....and I don't have a particularly sensitive skin.
Some of the Forever Young products to use at home are up to 50% ????????????
I'm also a bit confused as to whether to use a gentle exfoliator on a regular basis as well. Will ask at the salon when I have my final treatment tomorrow!0 -
Can I ask if people have noticed a difference in pore size with these products? I have horribly large pores and I've only just heard of salycylic acid which sounds ideal for me but it's all quite expensive and I don't want to waste my money.0
