Selling Your Plants!

I have sales of over £300 so far this year through 2 car boot sales, 1 school fare and some online sales at Amazon!

This is a much better return than ever before as I've tried a few new plants to give more choice. The list includes -

Arum Lily
Day Lily
Cala Lily
Calendula
Petunia
Sedum
Snapdragon
Bizzy Lizzy

Can anyone suggest a few more that would be easy to grow for next year?

Thanks for that list. I'm thinking of doing an early and later car boot next year. I've mentioned before at the end of May tomatoes and veg went very well, but nobody was interested in bedding plants (you can get them just as cheap in the sheds, and already with flowers on them). Perennials seems to interest those with a bit of knowledge though - asters, loosestrife ...
And others have told me that if you buy up cheap hanging baskets and plant them up, they go down a storm.
Would you recommend trying to sell on ebay then? OH thinks I should have a go.

Tomato and strawberry hanging baskets! They would go down a treat! Especially if you get the ones in poundland!

I have also sold a few planters - one double went for £7 which returned a nice profit. A few other tubs are ideal for putting in hanging baskets that people already have.

I don't like selling my food producing plants so I will probably stick to flowers. Forgot to mention the Pineapple Lilys I bought - they have gone down very well too.

Have a go with e-bay. I sell on Amazon personally and have done well returning a nice £4 profit per sale on Arum Lilys.
  • Cucumbers and Marrow/Courgette - from seed easy to germinate and ready to sell in approx 8 weeks from sowing.

Lupins Russell Hybrids mix - from seed easy to germinate and will flower in the same year if sown early enough.

I would say Hostas, there was a chap who used to go to York car boot, he sold his home made honey, and carrots, potatoes and beans. And a really nice selection of hosta varieties, they sold for between £3-12 ea depending on variety and size.
He was a nice interesting chap and full of handy horticultural tips.

I swear by 10am every saturday he would have sold the lot.

Thanks for all the responses! Now Hostas, they are something I know absolutely nothing about! Are they small shrub like plants then?

Any particualr varieties you could recommend?

I am keen to try this for next year. Wasn't sure how to go about it. Is there something you put the plants in to post them etc??

    Thanks in anticipation

Title of another thread just reminded me - strawberries. Had lots of requests for strawberries. If your's are sending out runners now, peg them down and get some free plants to sell next summer. (Altho' if they're new plants this year I think the advice is not to so they conserve their strength?)
