Duff Digital TV

It would appear that not all TV’s are capable of receiving the full Digital service.
I have a Philips 26 inch flat screen HD ready Freeview built in all singing and dancing TV.
When the switchover happened I could no longer get the BBC Red Button Service that I enjoyed before.
Despite contacting PHILIPS by E’Mail and over the telephone (On a number provided by the Digital UK service, not PHILIPS) and despite constant reassurances by Philips that a signal over the air will resolve the problem, nothing has changed.
They recently had the cheek to send me a questionnaire asking “Would I recommend their product to others”. Answer NO NO NO.

Have you tried rescanning, or forcing an over the air software upgrade?

You can check the schedule here:-

Rescanned several times to no avail.
I havent a clue how to do the over the air software upgrade. The set is a Philips 26 PFL 5522D/05 and was supposed to be a top of the range set when I got it at the end of 2008. The software is supposed to upgrade automatically. My other set. a 12 inch Aiwa and my Sony DVD/Harddrive recorder both auto upgraded with no problem.

The site you listed above seems to be about freeview, not digital upgrades.

Digital and Freeview amount to the same thing, Freeview is a digital service.

The over air software upgrades are done using the freeview signal.

You may need to explore your user menus further.

Some older Freeview Boxes/Integrated TVs were bricked by the latest round of channel changes that were done to facilitate Freeview HD, though it shouldn't have effected yours.
I suppose the only answer would be to get a cheap external freeview box.
