Audio download/iTunes help needed, please

I downloaded a free audiobook yesterday from The Times website and am now trying to add it to iTunes. I'm getting a message saying, "One or more of the songs you are adding to iTunes are in the WMA format. iTunes will automatically convert them to the AAC format so that they can be added to your iTunes library." When I then click Convert, I get a message saying, "One or more of the songs being added are in the protected WMA format and could not be converted."
Is there any way round this? How do I get the audiobook onto my iPod? I don't want to listen to it out and about, not on my laptop.
Thanks,
all_greek

Hi
It it's protected WMA format then it's probably only intended to be used with Windows Media Player on your computer.Never interrupt your enemy when he is making a mistake.0 -
Thanks. How frustrating! I was hoping to listen to it on a long haul (laptop-less) flight.

if you have a CD burner you could use Windows Media Player burn the WMA file onto an audio CD - then rip the CD into iTunes.0

I've had a go, but as soon as I try to transfer the files from CD onto iTunes, I get the same "protected file" message. Am I doing something wrong?
Thanks again,

Sounds like you've burned the WMA to a data disc. Chorlton meant for you to create an actual audio CD that'd be playable in a Hi-Fi.
It has WMA DRM. A way to do what you're wanting would be to remove the DRM. We're not allowed to discuss that here, so you'd have to use the powers of google. They say it's genetic, they say he can't help it, they say you can catch it - but sometimes you're born with it0
