Advice & Q about disabled persons tax credits

Hi all
Looking for some help please i do have a disability advisor at the job centre, but she is unavailable at the moment and wanted to find out a few things
some background on me
I was a nurse and have a few injuries working within geriatric nursing for years.
I have not worked for so many years but done lots off voluntary stuff.
I recieve industrial injuries, incapacity & just recently the lowest rate DLA
I was getting so depressed not working and off course financially it was a mess too ( live on my own no other income )
I decided to try permitted work and iam loving it although very tiring iam coping if i pace myself & only do 11 hrs at the most some weeks i only do 6hrs.
I have been seriously considering coming off incapacity but worry about how many hrs i would have to do to make up that amount off money.
Its possible that i may get to keep my industrial inj which is only £56 pw and not sure about the DLA £18pw & wondered if i would get the disabled persons tax credits ( not sure if thats what it is called ) i do not have any children at home.
One off the main reasons that i desperately want to earn is that i need to learn to drive as i live in a rural location and its torture trying to walk home from anywhere and i know in the future i will be stuck here if i dont drive also if i did drive i could probably work more as the job has more hrs to offer for drivers.
Any help and advice on the tax credits would be gratefully appreciated.
thanks

You need to do 16 hours per week for the tax credits. DLA won't be affected if you still have the same care / mobility needs.Sealed pot challenge #232. Gold stars from Sue-UU - :staradmin :staradmin £75.29 banked

You need to work a minimum of 16 hours to claim the tax credits. If you work 30 hours, you get the "30 hour element".
