Does he really think he knows more about cheating the taxman than the taxman knows about catching cheats? Does he really think he's the first person to think of this or something?If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything0

if he makes a false declaration with regard to an SDLT return, he's automatically guilty of tax fraud.
At a minimum this would be classed as a deliberate inaccuracy which carries a penalty of up to 70% of the Stamp Duty he should have paid (on top of the original Stamp Duty he will still have to pay.)
As someone else said his solicitor will almost certainly raise this issue; if he also lies to his solicitor this may be classed as trying to conceal the inaccuracy which increases the penalty even further.Every generation blames the one before...
