Help please - Currys dishwasher dented on delivery

Options
We just took delivery of a Beko dishwasher from Currys. On unwrappng, by their delivery men, we found a dent in the side. They noted it on the delivery note as "cosmetic damage". The dent is pretty shallow, about 10" across - although the metal is slightly creased at the centre of it.

Should we ask them to come and take it away (we don't have the packaging, the delivery men took it) or ask for a discount (how much)?

I haven't tried the dishwasher yet, I was waiting to see what they would reply to my email.

Any advice? Has anyone had similar experiences with Currys?

Thanks! Wallybird.

Once it's installed, the dent should not even be visible, so I would just push for a discount (say 10% of total price)? If you find the damage unacceptable, you should have rejected it at the point of delivery.

Sounds like the easiest option will be for you just to live with it now -- is the previous poster right in thinking the dent isn't visible with the machine installed?

I bought a washing machine from coop a couple of years ago and on delivery it was dented quite badly on the side -- to the point where the front panel didn't fit correctly. I rejected it, despite their office offering about 30% discount over the phone. The second one they brought was also dented in the same place, apparently where they're gripped by the forklift trucks in the warehouse, but this time the dent was small and not visible with the machine installed. I was glad to accept it, but made sure they got the office on the phone to offer me a discount first...!

Years ago there used to be a shop in West London that sold nothing but cosmetically damaged white goods. The full warranty was not affected, so some good bargains were to be had.

We always used to make a point of buying cosmetically damaged white goods as long as the damage was somewhere it did not show.
I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.

I did what you suggested and was eventually offered a 15% discount, which I accepted. But I will remember the part about not accepting at the point of delivery for the next time. Thanks!
