Help....Need somewhere to live

I've been renting a flat from a friend for the last year, however now he needs the flat back.
I need to find somewhere to live fast but I've bad credit........in 2 weeks time I'll have nowhere to live and I don't know what to do.
I only have a couple of hundred pounds of savings, could possibly borrow another couple of hundred from family.
Anyone any advice? I've no idea where to start!

Read the Shelter website's section on homelessness to understand your options.
Landlords who accept tenants with poor credit records may do so on condition that they either pay 6 month's rent upfront or provide a guarantor.
Many local councils offer deposit guarantee schemes to tenants seeking private accommodation if they have low income, are on benefits or in housing need. See if your council offer this and what their criteria is.
what length of notice did your landlord give you and will they let you live there a bit longer until you've found somewhere?0 -
There's no way I could have 6 months rent in advance .......a guarantor may be possible tho.
I'll see if I can view my credit report later, but not sure what to look for and what the letting agencys will consider bad!
What a mess!!0 -
Landlords (and their agents) at the very least usually see CCJs as very bad...Do you have any?0
-
I don't think so, just some late payments for things.0

Friend or not - if he's prepared to legally evict you it bumps you higher up the council waiting list. Which sadly is what you need if you have such poor credit.0

Would you consider lodging/sharing?
If so then try www.spareroom.co.uk - there are always rooms to rent in most places, often without the need for a credit check, and you can usually move in within a week.
Just be aware that if you're lodging you don't have the same tenancy rights as if you were a tenant with a lease. That can be an advantage though if you don't want to get in to anything long-term.
Good luck!0
