Can i take it and spend it tommorrow???

I would get in touch with your bank as soon as possible. Waiting for someone to reclaim it and earning interest on it is in my opinion immoral.
It's a remote chance but what if it is someones life savings or a payment that had to be made on that day. Someone could be at their wits ends worrying where their money has gone

I thought this only happened to trolls and people who lived in cloud cuckoo land.

When I younger I remember paying £4.00 into the halifax and the cashier credited 4000.00 instead.

However it was soon rumbled and debited from account again :-(

I always wondered what would happen if you were on benefits and this kind of thing happened, and then the benefits people did a routine check of your bank statements - you'd get done for benefit fraud wouldn't you!?

No because it's not your money.

This actually happened to me once. Opened my Halifax savings account with £1, and a few days later my balance was showing a few thousand. It disappeared again though after a day :( , and the line showing the credit and debit were removed from the statement too. Such a shame... at least there was a time when I had that kind of money in the bank (if only for a day lol) :)

This happens loads in business, even in these days of hardship.

I helped run a computer support business a few years back (when there was money in it) and we were always getting paid twice and some occasions, even three times for the same invoice. Rules were not to give back until asked for it.

Having said that, I would recommend that you spend this money without further delay.....kidding :D
