Are you saying it still installs it even if you click Decline? I don't see anything about that on your link.

If you're saying that it installs it even if you read this dialog box properly and click decline, then fair enough. They say it's genetic, they say he can't help it, they say you can catch it - but sometimes you're born with it0 -

Just read the next paragraph, it can be confusing, it caught me out once, I clicked 'back' to review settings, when I clicked 'forward' it then enabled all the options that I'd declined.
update: as Matt points out below, it's all in the wording. Though the boxes are unchecked, you've still got to click decline in order to proceed without getting the toolbar. Counterintuitive to say the least -- I'm kind of used to needing to click accept in order to continue the install process.... and the installer tells me it's going to install the Foxit Search Bar. This time, however, there's nowhere for me to uncheck the toolbar to prevent its installation. I tried the install twice, and sure enough -- both times I received the Ask toolbar.
Whether this is a mistake or not makes no difference to me -- and if it is a mistake, it's one that should have been detected during the testing process. I'll happily continue using the Google Docs online viewer and Sumatra for my offline PDF reading needs.
If you choose to include a toolbar installer with your application, that's fine. But I'd prefer it if you would 1) make it opt-in and not opt-out and 2) not try to spring it on me later during the install.Move along, nothing to see.0 -
It's a sneaky way of doing it, but they don't force it on you. You choose it by not reading properly. It's underhanded but people need to take more notice of what they install. They say it's genetic, they say he can't help it, they say you can catch it - but sometimes you're born with it0

Not sure if you both read the link in post#5, but the point is, with the latest version, and choosing custom install, still leads to the Ask toolbar being installed despite opting to leave it out.
Hence the accusation of adware.
Yes.... But that only refers to the INSTALLER version of Foxit. The .zip version does not have an installer and none of those screens appear. As I said, there is none of this nonsense whatsoever in the .zip version.0 -
Second Spud17 recommendation, tried foxit but pdf-xchange the free version is hard to beat!0

I used to be an advocate of Foxit, but its gone down the road that many applications have over the years to become rather cumbersome and distanced from its original functions. If you're just after a very simple and lightweight PDF viewer, you can't go wrong with Sumatra0

And if you do get caught out simply uninstall the toolbar.
It actually caught me out - I think it is very sneaky wording and will do Foxit a lot of damage to their reputation.
Having said that, never had a problem with Foxit reader“That old law about 'an eye for an eye' leaves everybody blind. The time is always right to do the right thing.”0
