Off to Chester/Warrington on Friday ...

Me and the OH are off to Chester and then onto Warrington (we are staying in Warrington overnight) on Friday. Have done a search of the area on the site, but found activity ideas for the little uns and not much for the biguns!
We went a couple of months ago, and went to the local Museum detailing the History of the Area throughout the ages which was very good and very interesting! We also explored Cheshire Oaks - somewhere we will be visiting again!
We would like to see a bit of the area, or like the museum (I forget its name!) learn a bit about the area. Walks or sight seeing are always good - weather dependant!
Also, any suggestions for some good pubs in the Warrington area serving good (moneysaving) pub food! We are staying the Travellodge!

Have looked into visiting Chester Zoo, but OH is worried about all the animals being in cages etc and doesn't want to see that.
It is years since I have been to a Zoo, what is Chesters' like?0 -
We took little ones to zoo during hols, had great day out and not a sad looking animal in sight! In fact enclosures are so big now it can take a while to spot anything!! Someone on here had posted a link to a site where you can print off a "kids go free" voucher which we used no bother, so worth having a hunt for that thread!0

which travelodge are you staying at?
If you're staying at Lymm Poplar 2000 (services) then try the pubs in nearby Grappenhall Village. Both serve nice food (not chain pub rubbish) set in what is a very prettey village centre. Lymm is also worth a visit.
If you're staying in the town centre then you're gonna struggle as the place turns into chav city after 6pm.2009 wins: Signed Saxon CD, Solar Torch, Drumsticks, Priest Feast Tix, Watch, Hammerfest tix :beer:0 -

Tempted by Chester Zoo - although still not 100% OH will be entirely happy about it.
We are staying in the Town Centre Travel Lodge - should I be worried about my car? lol.
We are off to Donnington on the Saturday to see the Renault racing (free tickets) so I think we'll give Oulton Park a miss.
Tempted by the Boat Museum too ...
Thanks for all your suggestions so far ... got to choose what to do now! lol.0 -
Hi
If you're interested in outdoor activities, you could try Go Ape at Delamere Forest:

Even if you don't fancy that, Delamere is a lovely place to spend a relaxing day walking, biking etc

Chester Zoo is a brilliant experience - went last month and thoroughly enjoyed it. Whilst you are over there, why not take a trip to nantwich - lovely little market town, and then theres snugbury's ice cream farm north of nantwich on the way to chester.
Close to crewe, and excellent antique centre 'Dagfields' - great for spending a couple of hours.0 -

We stayed in the town centre travellodge last year with no probs at all. There is a car park at the travellodge which you are meant to pay about £5 to park overnight although I don't think we paid anything, they just gave us tokens to get the cars out again the next morning. It was nice and quiet as you are just out of the main drag. Went to a nice Chinese restaurant but can't remember the name of it (useless I am!).
There is a good 10pin bowling alley and Laserquest also. There is also another laserquest thingy in an old warehouse place above a gym. Cant remember the name of it or if it is suitable for the kids that you have but they are still good evening entertainment all the same.
Walton Gardens are a nice afternoon out - and free aswell if I remember correctly!"Life may not always be the party you wish for, but whilst here you may aswell dance"!!!
