Santander (Laura Ashley) Standing order issues

Hello all,

would like some advice please

I am currently paying my Laura Ashley store card via standing order after being initially being told (Santander advisor on telephone) it was fine to pay that way on my pay day.
Only problem being I keep getting £12 fines for late payment as they keep switching my payment date always earlier than my payday.

I have rang Santander numerous times to be told I would need to alter my standing order each month not to get charged the fines.

I have pleaded with them that I cannot afford to pay prior to my payday but they wont have it.

Could anyone suggest a better solution for me please so that I make payment maybe earlier as I have asked for suggestions from Santander who have not given me any suggestions!

:D

    Pay by Direct Debit :-

If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !
  • Just log in to online banking on your payday, and make the payment manually. It will arrive in the same way that a standing order does anyway.

If I've read this right, the due date for the Laura Ashley account keeps changing? If so, perhaps they do the payment cycle every 28 days. I have a Littlewoods account and they do this - necessitates a bit of careful budgeting from time to time. It occasionally means making two payments within one month, although this does depend on the running balance on the account, of course ;)

They payments dates don't change by that much. It should be simple to set up the SO so that it always comes out before the payment is due.

If its a 28 day cycle the payment dates will get earlier and earlier. Could I suggest a min payment by direct debit, topped up with whatever you need to each month.

If you cant do a direct debit, what if you changed your standing order to every two weeks for half the amount. You might end up in credit but so what. You will not incur late payment fees, and interest rates on savings are non existant these days.
