Teaching assistant letdown

I am already at the top of my field, but on secondment, and wanted the same position permenantly...
Hey, thanks for the support, just needed some to agree with me. X
Weren't you both 'insiders' then?
If you were doing the job and they decided not to give the permanent position to you, it would seem they don't feel you are right for the team, for whatever reason?
Or am I missing something?0 -
There could be other reasons involved as well such as the sucessful candidate had been displaced; had a better attitude or whatever.
In all honesty from what you have posted I could see you being difficult to work with.0 -
I am fuming mad!
Was interviewed for a job with others and the internal candidate got it, again and again and again...
This person did not know the actual job as well as me or the other candidate. Was not as experienced. Could not comment on spreadsheet data. Did not have a proven record in this field. And guess who did the lesson obs... Yes you've guessed it... One of their mates...
What a bloody waste of people's time.
If someone is ear-marked for the job; just bloody give it to them! And stop wasting my time and effort!

This is so frustrating for you! I am no longer going for public sector jobs (in admin) and this is a good reason why not to bother. My mam works at a local authority and has had to apply and get back her own job about 6 times with outside candidates invited for no reason, why do they do it? what a waste of funds too! I bet this rearely happens in private business.0 -

It happens for efficiency reasons and probably not as much; namely because private business like the public sector has always been built with profitability and efficiency in mind.
Public sector units regularly have layers and layers of unncessary management and administration which needs reduced.
It does also happen in the private sector from time to time.
Personally I suspect a lot of those who moan about such stuff are those who have had it far too easy for far too long and are being paid inflated salary for reduced workloads than for example the private sector.0 -
Slightly off topic here, but......
Interviews for TA jobs include a classroom observation?0 -

This is so true, I get so angry hearing public sector workers complaining, in the private we've had to be squeezed for 2 years or more, why shouldnt they?! My OH is working harder than ever on 10% less salary nevermind a payrise every year and Im struggling to find a job! They should stop winging and do the jobs theyre lucky enough to still have. Im taling about the 'unskilled' admin/management types here, not the nurses, police officers etc.0 -
I understood it is compulsory to advertise externally?
Either way, it happens in the private sector too!0
