on behalf of a relative

My relative has a motability car and also has his road tax for free. they, have gone and bought an old classic car as a bit of a hobby for both of them and was wondering if they can use his tax exemption form to tax this car or will they have to register it in his wifes name and pay tax as normal?

I thought you only got tax exemption on 1 car,,but told them id ask for better advise

My DH has four(!) classic cars and they're all tax exempt as they're pre-1971. I used to drive a 1967 Riley Elf as my everyday car before arthritis stopped me, and that was exempt too. Classic cars can be a surprisingly cheap hobby as you can often get really cheap specialist insurance too.

you can have as many cars registed to you as you want, there is no need to register it in his wifes name but as already said only one can be road tax exempt
