How soon can I expect to hear re doing a survey

It is almost two weeks since we accepted the offer on our property. We have filled in forms for the solicitor and sent them off. Just wondered when we might hear that buyers are having a survey done? Is two weeks too soon to expect to hear re that? I presume it will all take time to arrange with us then it will take more time to get the results through. They said they wanted to move quickly, as we do (we are not buying just yet but still want to move on).

Your purchasers are more than likely sorting out a suitable mortgage , only then will the valuation take place.

I was told by the EA that they already had their mortgage agreed and it in only a small part of the total cost of my house.
EA seems to want to leave everything to the solicitors now.0 -
We got a call the day after accepting the offer to arrange the survey. the Estate Agent should chase this - that is why you are paying them so much!0

Timings will vary from purchase to purchase. It may be that your buyer has their mortgage agreed in principle, but not their formal mortgage offer. As these offers often have a time limit, e.g. 3 months, it can be sensible for the buyer to wait until their offer on a property is accepted before they make the final mortgage application. This means they do not lose the mortgage deal they are paying fees in advance to secure because the purchase takes too long.
This may take a week or so to process before a mortgage valuation takes place (which may or may not involve anyone visiting the property). Again, a buyer is likely to wait for the mortgage valuation to be confirmed as acceptable before instructing their surveyor, so as not to waste their money.
Your estate agent should speak to the buyer and ask which steps they have taken so far.0 -
with the survey & mortgage offer done within days, our seller and both solicitors wasted about two months, then we had to walk away. I even suspect the delay was deliberate to make walking away more difficult.0

When I done a re-mortgage on my last house with C&G in 2005, no one come to my house to value it.
Unless it was done by a drive by valuation?
The Mortgage was only for approx 55% ltv aswell.0 -
It was five weeks after I'd accepted the offer on mine before I got a phone call to arrange for the surveyor to come round - and this was from people very keen to buy. They were selling theirs, so maybe part of the delay was not wishing to finally commit until they knew their buyers weren't going to find something awful in their survey.0

I don't think 2 weeks is necesarilly anything to worry about.
When I bought last year my mortgage lender arranged my survey for me. I asked them to arrange it the day after I had my offer accepted but it took them 2 and a half weeks to book it.0
