Bank Charges ?

Hi,
Going back in 2009 when i turned 18 my halifax account was automatic upgraded to a Reward Current Account with a overdraft limit of £250. Two months later i lost my job and had to claim JSA and stupidly used my overdraft to pay some minor bills this is were it all went wrong over the next couple of month i tried to pay back off my overdraft and after looking at my statements they were just charging me say i was £250 over i would put £50 in and they would charge me £35 in fees so i just got out of control, i then had to change my bank account as they were taking all my JSA leaving me no money to live.
now i then managed to raise my money of £180 to pay the £250 but as soon as i did this they took a big chunk £155 in fees leaving me back at square one. now i have a account which is nearly £800 in fees which ive tried to pay but i just cant, ive been to the bank to try and freeze it which they just wont do. i now cant get any credit due to this and i just dont no what to do. sorry to tell you my life story but this is the only way i could explain it.
if anyone could give me some advise i would be most great full.

I suggest that you send in a full statement of affairs to the bank, making an offer to make a monthly repayment based on what you can afford, in exchange for stopping any future charges and interest.

Can I ask why you would want further credit, as you state you are on JSA, how would you make the repayments?
    Best Regards

OK. Send in a statement of affairs then, and make an offer for repayment based on what you can afford.
You may want to look at the CCCS website where you can do an SOA, and it will make reccomendations on how much you should look to pay monthly.
    Best Regards

    Hi,

Open a new bank account elsewhere and get your wages paid into this, then you are in control over how much you pay back every month. You may be best going for a basic bank account at first and then upgrading at a later date. Try Co-op cashminder account.
