XML Parsing Error in FM2010 game

Sorry if this has been posted elsewhere already but i am just a newbie to the site and trying to find my way around!

My problem is that while playing Football Manager 2010, I can no longer open the game to play it as I get a dialogue box saying "XML parsing error! not well-formed (invalid token) at line 1 of default.xml"

Can anyone help me please?

Have you tried the latest patch or failing that do a reinstall.

I tried installing update 10.3.0 which seems to be the latest FM update but it had no effect. If uninstalling then reinstalling will I lose any of my seasons data?

No, it should keep it intact but just to be sure back it up (the Sports interactive folder in My Documents). There may be an option to repair the installation so you could try that first

Sorry, jclegs, neither installing the latest patch nor repair option nor a complete uninstall/reinstall of the game has worked. I have also tried uninstalling and reinstalling Steam, the website which holds the game details, all to no avail.

Have you, or anyone, any other suggestions?

Just a note to say thanks! While the link you gave was not able to offer a fix, a link on it back to steam.com gave the answers so after a couple of days I am now back fighting my way to the top of the SPL!
