I have just sold 2 phones on Ebay. Although I state UK postage only a bidder has bought the item from USA and sent this...

"How are u doing today hope fine and cool
I am **** From USA,i want you to know that i am the buyer of this item i want to purchase the item to present my Cursing in Lagos Nigeria as a gift for there Wending that they want to do nest week since i will not be there then i want you to know that i will like to made the payment for you by PAYPAL Secure Online Payments because i have account in PAYPAL so i will like you to caculate the total amount of the item togerther with the shipping cost to Lagos Nigeria,Then i want the item to be sihpped via Royal Mail First Class Express shipping to nigeria i don t worry about the shipping cost ok,Thanks.....Regard"

IS THIS A DODGY SCAM, I've read a couple of posts like this and need a second opinion...

2nd opinion: definite scam. Love the wording- you'd think they'd be getting the hang of English by now.

SCAM, although it may be a SCAM, possibly a SCAM, quite possibly a SCAM - defiantly a SCAM... thought about it again - yes SCAM.

Do you think they want you to send it to Nigeria!!!!
If I were selling a mobile it would be UK only. Any bids from non-UK would be cancelled straight away.... Actually anything over £10 I wouldn't send outside the UK or poss. USA now :-(

My Auction does state UK only but they went ahead anyway, I've contacted Ebay about cancelling the sale and it being relisted.

Any way to block bidders who arent in the UK?
ALSO CANCEL THIS SALE AND RELIST WITHOUT BEING CHARGED AGAIN?

A good point - you would think ebay would be able to offer an option which blocks bidders from outside the UK etc.

I also think that ebay should require you to register a credit / debit card before you are allowed to bid. They should also verify this information before activating your account.

Not if the accounts have been hi-jacked - sounds a bit odd at first but I have had what appear to be bids from the UK, at auction end an address in the USA appears. I had a TKO notice confirming what had happened, but it happened again when I re-listed - this time followed by an iffy e-mail about sending to Indonesia.

On both occasions two apparently normal UK accounts were used to bid the phone price up, presumably to a level where I would be greedy/stupid.
