Hi, due to move in to my new build home in 2 weeks time. Now we are starting a fresh on fuels, What would be my best option? I have gone through Uswitch (i had to say i was with BG to get a comparison) and it came out with Npower were the cheapest @£923 anuual bill, when i choose the Green pricess the annual bill was - £346 - why is this so cheap? have i missed something here?

Also i guess as i am a brand new customer i would not be able to benefit any cash back from Uswitch as i am not switching but can i get cashback form say quidco?

*Edit got cashback prices for new dual fuel customers through quidco -

British Gas - £40
Scotish power - £35
Powergen -£30
npower - £28

So not much incentive compare to an average of a £1000 a year!

Thanks in advance

If it is a new build home what data did you enter into the comparison website - monthly payment or estimated kWh? The latter is best.

The average house is approx 3,300 kWh for Electricity and 23,000 kWh for gas so try that for starters.

If you house is huge or tiny adjust the gas either way.

If you live alone, or have a spouse and 15 kids adjust the electricity accordingly.

Or if you have consumption from a previous abode use that.

    Thanks!

I just choose the option, "no bill handy",

Would it make a difference to the quotes i had, i would have thought it would be based on consumption & standing charges no matter what you used, the cheapest for my area would come out on top? Or are there other factors to consider?

Hi, It does make a difference as some have a higher standing charge and lower unit charge. In any event you may not have any choice in supplier. You may like to view the following post
