took the plunge with ebid

As I have so much stuff here now I've closed my ebay shop I decided to try ebid. I have finally managed to list half a dozen items, but I can't say it is particularly user friendly, and I don't like the way they don't actually confirm costs before you commit to list.
I had a look through the section I am selling in, several pages of rather scammy looking goods (overseas sellers with wholesale lots and wire payments required) and I can't say I feel particularly content that my listings will even get seen. There are just pages and pages and pages of items closing with no bids.
Oh well, I don't think I have paid anything to list, although it does default to featured listing @ 50p on every single auction so watch for that if anyone else uses them, so it is worth a bit of an experiment.
I've got the same range of items for sale on ebay at £1 more, so it will be interesting to see which, if any sell. I'll let you know.
I'd be interested as well in other peoples experience of ebid.

i too tried to list something the other day but found the ebid lister totally useless. i tend to design my listings in word & then cut n paste into ebay which worked fine.
but not all good with ebid. their lister completely played around withn my text (text off centred & way out of line) & so i gave up.
if you are doing basic listings or know what you are doing with html then you will not have a problem0 -
Just an update..Of all the things I listed on ebid last week only two have actually been viewed once. None of the rest have even been looked at
They don't finish until tomorrow but if this is anything to go by it wasn't worth the effort in trying to navigate the unfriendly selling pages.
Similar items i listed on ebay have several dozen views, and watchers on all of them.

I do think it's time for an alternative to eBay - competition drives down prices and leads to innovation. Unfortunately until these sites meet "critical mass" - ebay really won't have any competition.
We need a competitior to offer a viable alternative with a unique selling point... and a big marketing push.. perhaphs Google Auctions?
Anyway, I did notice an ipod Nano with no bids ending today, starting price £50 1156357980-8211-0 - that could be a bargain.0 -
I'm fairly new to ebay but had sold a few things. Thought I'd try some of the unsolds on ebid. Like poster above, very few viewings, no bids at all - and as another poster mentioned, it defaults to featured, which, silly me, I didn't notice at first, so ended up paying unncessary fees, (So much for being an MSEr!!)
Had a look at Tazbar as well - much easier to list, but not a dickybird in viewings or bids!0 -
Personally I don't even bother looking at ebid anymore because you have to trawl through so much !!!!!! to find anything.0

I wish Amazon would do something with it's auction format which it appears, to me anyway, to have forgotten about ... if they could tailor the 'Marketplace' setup to the style of an auction then perhaps they could challenge eBay.
just a thought.Learn to laugh at yourself ... everyone else has:rotfl:

I agree, Amazon have the power to challange ebay if they made the effort. Amazon are making a lot of money, maybe they are happy with what they have.0 -
Ebay's an extortionate system and you and I have been unhappy to pay for years, incredible prices on listings. Ebid needs an entire revamp and dedication. theres probably like a 12,000 strong ebay team with Ebids 25.Save saynoto0870.com in your favorites, and stop giving companies more £££ dialling 0870 numbers when you can dial freephones or cheaper alternatives
call your credit card company, tell them that you want to leave, 99% of the time theyll lower your APR%
Remember when that Bank Manager or Salesperson smiles at you, all he sees is £ notes. Dont forget the motto, "the wider their grin, the more debt your in"0
