Pls advise here if I don't succeed - am not a techno expert.
Sounds like you are going to have yet another very busy time.:j0 -

Hi Buel,
Have now tried twice & the B****** internet has crashed twice.
I think you click on the link for PMs after it says welcome.0 -
Hi lu lu, sorry for the non-reply, i was v.busy last night fitting the bulbs, the extension+the timer. All went well except last thing last night the wrong plug was turned off so instead of the tv, video, DVD player+sky box being turned off the timer for the pond pump+the the fridge and freezer(both on the same supply as the pump) were turned off so the 9am reading this morning is irrelevant! However, this wont happen again so the next few days readings should be interesting! Not yet a total moneysaving expert...but im trying!!0

Tell them that the PP meter is no good any longer and that you want it changed because they can't vend it. They should change it free of charge as your parents are older and your father has an ongoing medical condiiton.
This worked for me. I have mental health problems so can't always get out of the house to go and top up the key for the meter, so I told the electricity company and cited the Disability Discrimination Act (reasonable adjustments to the way a service is provided) and they quite happily changed my meter for a credit one.0 -
Thank you for that, that really is a good bit of advice, i will sort that out asap! Regarding the useage by my parents, i have now found out that total count of refridgerant(?) equipments is: 1 small chest freezer in the shed, 1 fridge-freezer in the house, 1 fridge-freezer in the animal shed and 1 small freezer in the animal shed! However, the good news is that they are willing to buy a new fridge-freezer for the house and obviously that will be an energy efficent one! As for the others, i will work on those! Also my mum's desktop pc is on all day so i have thought about maybe replacing it with a laptop which i believe are 80% more efficent? Not yet a total moneysaving expert...but im trying!!0

Why is the computer on all day? Unless its serving some purpose like downloading vast quantities of stuff (which the ISP mihgt like lol) it can be switched off. I don't know if a laptop is cheaper, both would be wasting energy if on all day.
As I said in an earlier post why not ask these questions of the power company? They should have an energy efficiency team who will at least have some generic figures for a laptop and a desktop PC. Its not 100% accurate with loads of different makes, but same for the fridge freezers and that, they may have an idea roughly what they will use.
Is there any scope for getting rid of at least some of the freezers? I understand they may have them for convenience but it might be worth a sort out to see how often they are actually utilized.
PS I hope they've paying you commission for whatever you saveMixed Martial Arts is the greatest sport known to mankind and anyone who says it is 'a bar room brawl' has never trained in it and has no idea what they are talking about.0 -
Hi,my desktop pc with an old style crt monitor uses 2p per hour.the good news is that they are willing to buy a new fridge-freezer for the house and obviously that will be an energy efficent one!
Will they be keeping the old one?0 -

Thanks for your advice, as for finding out exactly what appliance uses what amount, im going to buy a plug in energy monitor, what i need is your opinion please?
