advice please re tax credits

my oh has been offered a bit of work working nights for his brother at the weekends...he earn 100 pounds for the two nights which is obviiously a big boost

its going to be paid cash and as its under threshhold there wont be tax etc..he will be doing 16hrs

whre do i stand with tax credits....

any advice please

at present i get working tax as i do 16hrs a week at 4.80 an hr...plus child tax for four kids

Re Tax credits - Since you are working 16 hrs per week and your OH will then be working 16 hrs per week you have a household total of over 30hrs which means you will then be eligible for the the 30hr element of working tax credits. It's just a matter of calling TCO up and giving them the name of your husbands employer and their PAYE reference number. That's if your OH is going to be an employee rather than self-employed.



If your OH is going to be self-employed then he also needs to contact his tax office and register as self-employed and they will send him a UTR number which he can then inform TCO of.
