I have just downloaded updates and have noticed that the battery icon reads - "82% available (plugged in, not charging) Power plan HP optimised." It is a Compaq 6720s.
Any ideas?
Thanks,

My HP always does that, but then it actually charges all the same.0

Some laptops have a "battery saving" option which only charges the laptop up to a certain percentage, the idea being that as it degrades, you disable this option and it does a full recharge. It should be listed in the full manual for the laptop.0

Common fault with the HP's
Warning though it could be the mainboard if you find the battery is not actually charging back up once flat. We brought a load of these as refurb units but sent a load off to HP as they were not charging the battery and they fitted new mainboards.
If you find the above try flashing the BIOS to the latest, it did work on some of the units.0
