Hi there
I have a Navman PiN 570 sat nav pda - all original disks inc. My battery dieda sorry death and its taken a while to get a replacement. I have now got the replacement and fully charged only to find that I am getting a blank screen when powering on (screen lights but no OS or data appears)

My question is How do i reinstall all OS so i can reinstall the smart nav. In NON Techie terms if possible what i need and how to do this would be great if anyone can help.

Have you tried doing a soft and or a hard reset. According to the manual here:-
    http://www.navman.com/docs/manuals/navman-pin570-manual-en.pdf

It is on the bottom of the unit.

    Soft reset is button.
Hard reset is a sliding switch.

    Good luck

It's been a few years since I last used one of these, but IIRC you need to use the CDs that came with it to install MS ActiveSync on your PC, and then connect the PiN to the PC to re-install the application.

I'm fairly sure the OS (Win CE of some version or other) is stored onboard in permanent memory, so a hard reset as described above should get that back up and running.

Yes I have done both but this does not reinstall the software that has gone or the operating system due to a long time without any battery its all gone A.W.O.L

I think the internal battery must be fading as the OS seems to have gone but ihave the OS disk that came with the navman. its just i am not sure how to get it to install from my computer dvd to the navman. I once had an HP IPAQ that i allowed the battery to run off on and I have never been able to reload the OS to this day. But the navman must be a lot easier as more upto date than the ipaq was.

Ant tips on the method to do this would be great.
