Acer Aspire One wireless problem

Over the past 6 months I've been having a severe problem with my Acer Aspire One detecting and connecting to my wireless router, after previously being fine for 12 months and it also being able to detect other networks in my immediate area and when out and about .
I have checked and re-checked all the settings on the router and netbook, used 3 different routers, tried manually inputting the router settings into the netbook and tried them in different spots, all to no avail. It doesn't even detect/connect when the netbook is immediately next to the router. I can't think of anything that would interfere with the signal, and have even removed a landline DECT phone, without success.
I use the netbook only about 5 metres from the router on the same level, the Acer is running XP SP3 and has an Atheros wireless card with the latest driver.
Any suggestions gratefully received!

couple of possibilities....
1. you say the latest driver ?? so you have downloaded an update from your original installation ? If so, go into device manager and try rolling back the driver to a previous version.
2. go to Start-run-cmd, and in the command line type "netsh winsock reset catalog" without the quotes (think I've got it the wording the right way round, been a while since I've had to use it...) and see if this frees up your connection...
3. follow 2. with netsh int ip reset reset.log to sort your TCP/IP stack also.
4. May have to look for a new wireless card

Thanks for the info.
I don't know if I'm following your instructions properly, but I entered the first line, which said then to restart the computer, but I immediately entered the second line in the same window and then restarted the computer, should I have restarted first and then entered the second line, as it didn't have any effect on the wireless connection problem.
It's annoying as it is still detecting other networks in the area, apart from mine!0 -
Update: My Nokia N95 will not even pick up my router signal now, whilst still picking up the neighbours' networks, it seems that my signal is getting 'lost' or blocked by other networks at the moment!0

I've solved it, I changed the wireless broadcast channel on the router and the Acer has re-connected straight away, so the auto broadcast channel must have been clashing with others in the area. I hope this solution may help others with a similar problem, you do need to log-on to the router control panel to change the channel though!0

I was just about to suggest this. Install a program called InSSIDer on your computer and run it. It'll list all the wifi networks within range and also display what channel they're on.

hammy beat me to it !! If all devices fail, time to check your connection/router/wireless bits.
Inssider is a great bit of kit for this, and free
