The fridge door seal tore very quickly, so there's a quality issue there.

I then discovered that the door seal is not available as a separate item. Yes, you actually have to purchase a whole new door (cost £85) just for the sake of a door seal.

Moral of the story ... check that seals (the non-mechanical item most likely to fail), are available before you purchase.

Are you sure you can't buy the door seals? There are a few companies selling them. Maybe they are not Bosch equipment so it would not be a guaranteed fit, but it may be worth looking around. This is the first one that came up in google - never used them but may give an idea of price. They claim it is a genuine spare part:

We have had a few Bosch things and found them good quality, but I agree that having to replace the whole door is ridiculous.

Cannot quite work out how it tore under normal use, you do not touch the seal when opening and closing the doors, I have had a Bosch fridge/freezer for over two years now and the door seals are still like new.
