Paint over wood preserver problem

I have a picket fence that my ex OH made for me. In his wisdom he decided that it would be a good idea to treat all the wood with wood preserver before I painted it.
So, now I've got a picket fence that I have to paint every 6 months because the paint peels off. Any idea how I can cure this problem. Someone suggested using metal primer before painting. What do you think?

I don't think the wood preserver will be causing the problem.
I think you need to ensure that the surface is properly prepared before painting. (i.e. completely dry and free of any mould). Sand off any old paint, and probably applying a wood primer would be a good ideaSome people get so rich they lose all respect for humanity.
That's how rich I want to be.
But until then - best wishes - Mike.
