Tesco Credit Card

Options
I am absolutely fuming with my credit card provider. I have held a Tesco Platinum card for 4 years now and have never had any problems with it. I collect the clubcard points with it and use it for family days out which is a bonus. I spend a reasonable amount each month and very rarely come under £2,000 per month and pay it off straight away. I had a large payment that was additional to my normal spending and it has taken me over my limit. I made a payment on 1 September to pay the full amount off but they are saying I have gone over my limit and it won't be cleared until tonight as it takes 2 working days to reach their account, so I can't use my card until tonight. The money left my account on 2 September. Had a huge argument with a manager at Tesco. I understand that I have gone over my limit but they won't up my credit until the card has been cleared. I cannot go out today and get the rest of the childrens uniform. The manager was really stroppy with me about this, telling me he couldn't believe I didn't have other means of payment.

How do these people go on who don't pay off very month, I know that they do raise their limits as you see it on the tv all the time.

Sorry to rant, just feel terribly annoyed.

Need advice now as to who will give me the best extras/bonuses on a credit card.

  • I don't ever rely on one card as payment though to avoid situations like this. I'm not really sure if anyone can offer any advice apart from what this manager has said. As you pay it off in full each month it suggests you do have money to use rather than the credit card, so not sure why you "can't go out".

Not sure what other advice is available.

I don't like carrying cash and am unsure how much I will need, so I would need to withdraw a large amount that is all I meant. A credit card is convenient. I cannot understand how a debit card which is classed as a cash payment would take 2 days to clear.
