Cruise Ship Work

Hi i am looking for any help, advice or assitance in getting an admin/reception type job on a cruise ship.

I dont have a second language but i do want to do this as its my dream to travel and see more of the world as i'm in my 30's so i'm a late starter in life.

If anyone can help would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, I have to the Med and the Caribbean.

I doubt I would do one again as I prefer to get more involved with locals on holiday, e.g meet them go to places they go etc. This is not really possible on a cruise where you are just deposited on foreign shores for a few hours at a time.

They are just big floating hotels.

Inside cabins with no view can be pretty dreary places to stay in so you tend to be out and about most of the time, doing stuff. Be it exercise classes, time in the casino, watching a show, sunbathing, swimming or whatever.

Working on a ship you will not be doing this though - as you will be er... working

if you're willing to be flexible with the line ofwork you're willing to do. how about being a dealer in a casino. it takes 6 weeks to train you which would lead to a job on a cruiseship. i do however agree with the previous poster, life on board can be stressful since you'll be sharing with others for a minimum of 3-6 months. often in cramp quarters.

7 day weeks for 6+ months. 14hr + days. not enough room in your cabin to turn around. Ahh the joys of cruise work. On the plus side the money is good. have a look at Disney cast member reviews.

Thank you, I was wondering if you could help with something. On the application form it asks if I have a seaman's book, do I need one before I apply for the job? and also when I googled for the information I found something that says that I need to be trained at the basic standard in maritime safety measures. Can I do this at the beginning of the job, if I get it?
