Try to ring BT (for your phoneline) during office hours. At least that way, you get someone in this country who knows what they're doing, rather than some idiot in a far off land with no clue, no idea of a clue, and no hope of a clue...

Try and move in the week rather than weekends as it may be cheaper... if you have the option!

Take a photograph of the gas and electricity meter readings on the day you finally leave the property in case things go really wrong with the final bills.
Before then, get the meter serial numbers and any meter exchange information from the old meters. I know this sounds really paranoid but it's a swine to sort out the closing bills if they go wrong and you may need this type of evidence.

Sorry to add to the list:D

Well, I have made a start - I am doing an audit of my wine racks.....well, I need to know that I am only moving that which needs to be moved. The rest can be consumed, either by using in cooking if it is not so great wine, or by drinking beforehand. No point in paying removal men to move it :rotfl:

When I rang BT, they were great. In this country, checked the line at the new house, checked the exchange to see if we could keep the same number and told me the timescale I needed to let them know.
We moved our Broadband to them too and it was painless (though I've yet to see if it's cheaper )

Outside of office hours, you end up speaking to Kayveen.

When I finally spoke to a lass in this country, what had taken up to that point 5 weeks, was over in 13 minutes...

    Hi Hypno

I've spent the last couple of days catching up - it's been a roller coasting read - nearly no skiing for ds, kidney problems, Take That tickets and then the HOUSE SALE - FANTASTIC

I'm really chuffed for you - all exciting and a new start for you all

Now...... can you please send some of those positive vibes over to the North West as my MIL is driving us to distraction with the (non) sale of her house....................

Fantastic news for you though - I'm smiling from ear to ear for you :)
