What Program version of avast! 5 do you have? (the latest is 5.0.594)

Does this occur on each reboot

Are you providied with any error messages when trying to start avast! and/or firewall

Please run a full malwarebytes scan. Please post the log here.
    Don't forget to update definitions!

Also this may be the reason: so TICK and FIX:
O9 - Extra button: (no name) - AutorunsDisabled - (no file)

Hopefully that will help! Although I'm not sure to be honest.

Is it worth running a Full scan?
    http://www.malwarebytes.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=10405

I see symantec and mcafee in the log, but they are in 016...so I don't know...by no means an expert...

Full scan would be best method to rule out infecton causing the slow down - although it may not be an infection.

Sorry missed those two. Use the two removal tools below:

I am just running a full malware scan at the mo. I did do this earlier and nothing was detected. Computer seems to be running ok but cannot get my avast to run and the firewall. Will post logs. Do I need to reboot after scan before I do Hijack as I didn't do this last time?

If you find something in the log, please do reboot.
But either way please do reboot. We've removed something from hijackthis log so hopefully that might have cured the problem - I hope!
