if daveys suggestion doesnt work, check for the cheapest window and invest in a brick. My Mondeo was only £20 for rear passenger wen son kindly threw a stone through it.

When I locked my keys in my car years ago - it was an old one - the RAC guy used a straightened coat hanger to wedge the lock up and open the door. The only damage was a very small dent in the rubber seal where the coat hanger was pushed through.

So I suggest OP if your mum, you or a helpful neighbour hasn't done anything like this before get the RAC, AA or whatever breakdown company to come and do it as they have done things like this plenty of time.
    I'm not cynical I'm realistic :p

(If a link I give opens pop ups I won't know I don't use windows)

When my dad's car broke down years ago the RAC guy actually locked himself out of our car. He slid a magnetic flat rod thing down the window next to the lock to lift up the latch.

its an old starlet takes about 30 seconds to wedge the door and pop the button the breakdown companies will gain entry easily (a disclaimer will have to be signed).

pstuart your merc has vacuum locks the only way in to those is to apply air pressure to the to a certain pipe under the bonnet (takes 20 mins to get in) hardest part is opening the bonnet from the outside

As above, it's very easy on this car.

If you have any issue grab hold of the next hoodied herbert that walks down the street, he'll be in there like a rat up a drain pipe. Get the keys of him quickly tho' ;):D
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Why the need to prise the door frame open?

With a coat hanger, you could slide the hook down inside the door and lift the metal bar for the door handle. Method of using a thin metal bar with a hook on used to be known as a slim jim.

As for the merc, if its got vaccuum locks, I would suggest half a tennis ball over the drivers lock.
No Longer works for MBNA as of August 2010 - redundancy money will be nice though.

Because there is now gap unless you create one, :wall:

If you mean the outside of the door you should have said so ;)

its easier to prise the door slightly as you can see the button slim jims are good if your experienced you need to visualise the inner workings of the door to know where the rods are.
