you have to find something you like, I hate running and find any excuse to avoid it. On the other hand I love going to my fitness classes. Even if some days I'm not in the mood then just getting there is enough and I always feel better afterwards for going. The big advantage for me though is I dont have to motivate myself once I am there - so all I have to do is kick myself into getting there in the first place and just doing what I am told!

    It is. :D

Whereabouts in the country are you? I use this group:

I'm so useless at stuff like this normally, but they really break it down, and I can actually see me having a better imagination of what to do on say just a normal wedding disco, as opposed to standing there, bopping in a one uncomfortable pattern. :rotfl:

    love it

get very moody and feel carp if i dont train for 2 or 3 days :(
  • I have exercised all my life. 3-4 times a week and even after giving birth, I went back into my skinny jeans within 2 weeks. I don't enjoy it, but I feel great afterwards and I am in great shape. Keep it up!

I dont mind the gym, but I prefer swimming. I will do half an hour in the gym then go for a swim. I could swim all day, find it very relaxing and time to think.
  • I'm not a lover of the gym, but I do love doing my Hot Pants workout DVD as I can start to see the difference in my bum, thighs etc within a week or two.

Also in this lovely weather I love going out on the bike.

I love the gym, I just find that at the moment i'm finidng it hard to make time to go - life is a little hectic in the build up to this weekend, but hopefully after that i'll be able to get back to three nights a week. In the gym I do an hour on the cross trainer, as i hate the running machine, and then once warmed up, work my way around the machines, and the weights, and finsih with 100 sit ups..
I kinda prefer classes though - my gym does some good ones, water aerobics is great if you're not feeling particularly energetic, and i try to fit either yoga or pialtes in once a week..

I'm also cycling to work a lot more now that I have a bike, and the weather is nicer, which is a little exercise, but doesn't feel as though i'M having to force myself to do it, as i enjoy the journey..

I like the idea above of taking somthing to watch on the iphone, that would pass the time a lot more quickly!

I waste time dreadfully if I go to the gym - I lack the motivation to do a decent workout but I am hooked on classes. I think it's partly to do with the fact that if you are part of a group you make more effort to keep going.

It's a case of finding what classes suit you best - my current favourites are spin/rpm, body pump, body attack and boot camp circuits.I do about 8/9 classes a week but there is no way I'd go to the gym that often.
I've gone off body combat in a big way but I may go back to it at some point.

I use a local authority gym where you pay a set fee per month and have as many classes as you like - it's also miles cheaper than the posh hotel gyms and health clubs with the poseur types who go to be seen rather than to get sweaty and dishevelled like the rest of us.

The good thing about the class thing is the routines change every 12/13 weeks or so which means it's not same old forevermore.
