Can they do this?

We are in the middle of buying a new buid house and we had asked for a price for our kitchen to be extend slightly.

The sales rep rang us and said the price was £350 although she thought it was cheap and they must have quoted it wrong but if we paid it asap then there would be no going back on there part and they would have to honour it. That was 3 months ago.

However we went in today to check how the house is coming on and the sales rep said she had some news about the kitchen that we wouldn't be happy about.
She explained her bosses realised they had messed up and given us the wrong price for the kitchen it should have been £1800:eek: but they would be willing to do it at cost and so we would have to pay a furthur £1000.

Obviously i said we weren't happy and that we weren't going to pay it since we paid the inital price of £350 asap like she said.

I have a receipt stating how much we paid and that it was for thekitchen to be extended but i wanted to know where we stand on the matter.

Any help would be greatfully received.

What did she give you other than a reciept?
Any plans for the kitchen work? Did you give them any thing in writing about what you wanted doing?

The kitchen was supposed to be built in an "L" shape but i wanted them to extend to make the kitchen more of a "U" shape meaning around 2meters extra.

The sales rep did a diagram showing what would be extended and what would need moving i.e a fridge and even asked for a price for a wine rack to be included.

This was sent off and we were told to await a price, we got the price, paid it and are now being told we need to pay another £1000

Did you get the quote for works in writing and the paperwork signed off, if you did then task them to complete the work as contracted for the fee stated.

    offer down the middle, £500.
Your still getting a great deal, and it keeps it moving along.
Unless you have plans for the job you wanted.
