Any Idea of the value of this?

I don't usually do threads like this but I'm at a loss to find anything out about it and wondered if any MSE'rs could find, or know about it.
I found this in my grandparent's house, when they were having a clearout, and it intrigued me, I've had it a few years now just sitting there and I would like, if possible, to sell it to raise some money but I don't know whether its trash or treasure.

Thanks

What I do know about this is, apparently it commemorates the birth of the first chimpanzee in London (?) zoo, The mother was called Boo Boo and the Baby was called Jubilee due to the fact it was born on some sort of jubilee0

Hi, I'm not sure of the value but I do like it. Perhaps you can take it to an auction house and ask them to value it. I think it's more of a specialized item than and you may not get the true value if you just put it on Ebay and hope.
You never know, London Zoo may want to bid for it!I must remember that "Money Saving" is not buying heavily discounted items that I do not need. :hello:0 -
I love that! I agree, go to an auction house for a valuation. It's definately not trash. It's the sort of thing I like seeing on Antiques Roadshow0

A couple of quidIf you will the end, you must will the means.0

Bit more than a couple of quid if this is the same item:

Can't see the Ilford connection though.0 -
It was in 1935 the first chimp was born & it was King George V silver Jubilee.
Wow just seen the above post.
Here's a lovely postcard shot of them.

It's the same item, it's just missing the paperwork that the OP's has. Probably worth a little more than the christies one due to the paperwork being there - proves its origin.
Definately treasure, but if you do follow the advice of the poster above and sell it for a few quid, I'll have it. Haha! Seriously, ignore him, it's definately treasure. A lovely little curio.0 -
Could it have been a competition win? Hence 'with compliments of Ilford?'0
