You cant really go in there asking for a larger coutesy car because you hold them liable, they could prove you wrong.... who knows at this stage what happened, maybe you can ring and arrange for a chat with their aftersales manager? then just ask for a larger car, if they have one there I am sure they will let you have it but they cant just magic one up if they dont!
Just ask them, your better saving your breath for the aftersales manager though!
good luck0 -
Why do people bother with stealerships at all?
I don't want newly trained 17yr olds f*cking about with my car (under the supervision of the head mechanic who's out the back having another 30 minute coffee/fag break), i'd be happier giving my 3yr old nephew a socket set and letting him play with the car instead.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

Your friend, as in to soon be your exfriend.s husband is a bad example then.
But tell me,? Can he now fix a car at the road side, or is he still the total plonker you portray him to be???
What on earth are you on about?????????????????
That was in response to the poster who thought AA/RAC people must be at least as good as, or better than a garage mechanic. Fact is they're often not mechanics at all.
And why would my friend not be my friend anymore because the AA employ people who are not mechanics as roadside assistants? She couldn't believe it herself when he got the job
Of course he can fix a car at the roadside, as long as it's something the AA has trained hom to do, anything else and he has to call the tow truck to take the car to a garage.
What a strange person you are.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -

I'm on about you stating categorically that AA/RAC guys are less skilled than your average garage man. It's often not the case.
Because your aquaintance got retrained into the job you think it's easy, you think because he came from a totally different background you can stereotype him as non-mechanical:rotfl:
What do you think the monkey at the garage can do? I'll tell you what he does, he calls the foreman or chief technician, often the only skilled bloke in the workshops. If single patrol men can't do their job they're history.
Strange?, well if not accepting your one sided all encompassing post stating that AA/RAC are unskilled is strange, then I must be.

i once went to an AA recruitment day and having been an independant roadside technician for nye on 7 years and holding city and guilds level 3 as a vehicle tech i did'nt get the job (a friend who is a senior manager in the AA ) asked why they did'nt employ me the answer too qualified and too experienced (had an 85% fix rate without techinal support and the latest diagnostic gear). shocking.
most older patrols are great (proper mechanics) most younger ones coming through dont have clue.0 -
The aa and rac have changed.
They're more of a recovery service, and will take you to their local friendly garage.
It's probably due tio the fact cars are harder to work on now, Health and Safety make it difficult to work at the roadside, and there have been a spate of compensation claims when they get it wrong. (remember the shell petrol and all the sticking valves, action against the aa who didn't spot it when they were called out cost them a fortune)
It's easier just to tow you to a garage, and the jobs over.0 -

I think you just may have hit the nail on the head as my experience is from these guys were the ones that battled the rain and snow and got folks out of trouble :T
But just another point, Greenflag and many other independant recovery outfits do not use their own mechs/techs, they use local garage services for their repair/recovery operations.
These guys are the same ones that will work on your car if you take it to their garage, different skill levels?, I don't think so.
