Can I claim....Please HELP.

Hi, can anyone help please. I've been offered a job but my contract doesnt start until the end of August. Currently I am unemployed & will be until then my contract starts. My question is: Can I still claim job seekers allowance and housing benefit until my job starts???Thanks

Yes you can although you must be actively looking for work while on JSA regardless of your job offer in August. Housing benefit, not so sure on but as you have no income at the moment and if you can prove this to the housing benefit office, they may not ask you to pay. Again, not entirely sure there so someone else will need to correct me if I'm wrong or add further details.
