Chin up ped, it's bound to feel worse late on a Friday when you can't do anything. It should already start to feel easier in the morning. If you've dealt with this type of issue before, you've got it in you to get through it!
Try here for Apex if you want to keep things in written form:

Don't panic and definitely don't ring them! They are a DCA, they have no powers and you possibly (probably?) don't owe them anything anyway. If you are quite sure that you don't remember a debt from Barclays or anyone else for that matter, then sit tight and wait for them to write to you. They obviously don't have a telephone number for you or else they would have called you.....probably several times a day. If you call them, they will bully you and try to get personal information from you in order to extract payment from you for a debt which may not be yours. Just ignore it for now, if you receive anything else, come on here for advice then."I may be many things but not being indiscreet isn't one of them"0

Thanks Barbie Doll. Im just concerned because they have my old address so any other correspondance I recieve from them I might not get in time to act upon. I have decided to call Apex Credit Management tomorrow which is different to Apex Discovery Solutions apparently. I will ask them about the 'Discovery Solutions' side of the company and what this could be about - hpefully they will put my mind at rest a bit - as I simply want to know what this is about and hopefully to sort it ASAP. Looking at the company profile it seems to deal with highstreet debt - but I have never had any of that aside from with Halifax and Barclays - both of which are paid - and I'm still with the Halifax so I know its not them!
Ive got a fear that the Barclays account has been left open incurring charges after charges of which ive not been aware of and Ive got some massive debt somewhere thats going to clear me out again.0 -
When you say you had debts in the past that you thought were all cleared, is it possible that one was missed that could now either be statute barred or close to it and they are having one last try to get some money on it?Credit card debt - NIL
Home improvement secured loans 30,130/41,000 and 23,156/28,000 End 2027 and 2029
Mortgage 64,513/100,000 End Nov 2035
2022 all rolling into new mortgage + extra to finish house. 125,000 End 20360 -
Honestly Susie - I have say all night trying to guess what it could be and I come to a blank every time. Thing about me when I was getting into the mess I was in was that it wasnt actually with many people - but the amounts were quite big if that makes sense. So it could only be a few people. I had debt collection agencys chasing me for overdue CT - which i paid straight away. then it was BT - all paid, then it was Barclays who acted through Wescot -settled that debt. Then I tackled my CC and overdraft and I sorted that last year. So for this to come along has shocked me - its a bit like my worst nightmare I have to be honest.0

Apex Credit Management took on my cousin's Halifax credit card debt and have been very reasonable in agreeing to a manageable "token payment".
Not like GE Money - absolute nightmare to deal with, and Link Financial just take you to court, then if they are not happy with the CCJ amount they apply for a charge against your property! My cousin is elderly and has dementia, she's in a care home now, but there was no sympathy from Link Financial. Thankfully a very nice Judge gave me more time to sort out my cousin's affairs.0 -

They have broken several guidelines, chasing the wrong people and also the phone number.h. asking or instructing debtors to make contact on premium rate
telephone numbersAlthough no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.
There are two ways of constructing a software design: One way is to make it so simple that there are obviously no deficiencies, and the other way is to make it so complicated that there are no obvious deficiencies0 -
Thanks DarkConvict, Very interesting. I hope they are trying to contact someone else through me, but I get a feeling it won't be that unfortunately. I'll just have to wait and see. Obviously this section of the Apex company is solely dedicated to tracking people down - and once that has been done it is passed onto the credit management side of the company.
I'll mention about the Premium Rate number thing, and see what they say, unfortunately I think it will fall onto deaf ears. Cant Believe I am having any dealings with these people again after all this time and deliberately conducting myself perfectly financially speaking. It was all pointless!0 -
When you say you sorted out all your debts, did you pay them all in full? I'm just wondering if you got talked into a partial settlement at any point and they're now chasing the rest?
Or do you have a common name, they could just be phishing for someone else.Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0 -
No - I paid them all in full to my knowledge - Partial settlements were never mentioned. I wouldnt have taken them as once I had got the feel for getting rid of the debts it was all I had cared about - since then i have been working at building my credit rating back up.0
