Digital Camera's: Best Buys

hello,
I wasn't sure where to post this.
I just wanted some advice on digital camera's. I'm not the most techie person so some of the jargon regarding the camera's spec goes straight over my head! Lol. I want a good one that will last a while.
What brands do people think are the best? Is Canon or Sony better for cameras?

The only place i've really been looking is Amazon. Is there anywhere that does better deals that people could recommend?

I don't think there is much to choose between any of the major brands these days. If you are not sure what you are looking for, I would recommend going to a couple of camera shops where you can ask advice and actually handle a few models to see what suits you best. Don't fall into the trap of thinking you have to go for as many mega pixels as possible - you can print up to A4 size with as few as 3 mega pixels, the quality of the lens is far more important. And when you come to buy a memory card, these are much cheaper online. Hope this helps.
