Hello there,
Just a quick question. I am looking at a house up for sale and was wondering if there is any website that I can look at to find out when it was built? I would be greatful if anyone could give me some guidance, or post some links.
Thank you

Not really. Depends how old it is as to how you can track it down.
e.g. 100 years old, can you look at old historical society photos, see if it's in there.
e.g. 10 years old, can you go through land registry online and see if you can see when it was first built
e.g. 4 years old, can you go through land registry and/or google for planning applications
e.g. can you contact the local history society/library to see if their archives have anything
e.g. 500 years old, local history society and/or googling.
Or, just ask the owners.0 -
There is no single all-encompassing website.
Ask the EA.
Ask the vendor.
Consult the HIP, if relevant.
Consult local council planning website to find entries for property, might go back to early 50s.Act in haste, repent at leisure.

Eyeballing it will give you a rough idea. As will the surrounding area. If it's 1911 or earlier, the census can help you narrow it down, as can old maps.
Or ask!...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -

Thanks guys,
I can't post a picture as it isn't available on any website yet due to it being new on the market. I saw a board up when I drove past the other day which had obviously just gone up. . . I will just ask methinks when we view it. It's not an old building as such but was just curious. I thought there might have been a website I could have looked at.
Thanks for your help though0 -
Where is the property located as that may help and the info should be on the deeds/lease if you have access to them. Oh if its in Milton Keynes then I doubt it would be Victorian.0

If it's in Scotland request the Home Report. That will tell you.0
