I put myself up for voluntary redundancy and was accepted. i was quoted about just under £2k. when i was quoted this i thought that that was what i would actually get (thats what helped sway my descision, i've been there so long i just needed something to give me a kick up the butt to leave)
i got a letter saying they are paying me -
number of complete years - 8
amount of a weeks pay - £95 (yes im just a part timer on min wage)
statutory redundancy pay - £350
enhanced redundancy - £315
it also says my notice will run from late june to late august. (2 months)
now... i don't get this.. that definitely does not add up to just under 2k! and because im expected to work my notice is that combined in my package? so i wasnt actually getting the amount i thought because id be working 2 months for it anyway? or should what i was quoted be on top of the 2 months notice i work?
i'm so confused because it's a new company that took over, and they arnt all that proffesional really - no meetings just letters sent out and the manager had to deal with everything and he was in the dark for most of it.
i feel in limbo now because im not happy that all im getting is what? £665 and then just my normal 2 months wages that i'm working for anyway? i'd rather just keep my job if thats all i'd be getting.
anyway sorry for muttering on. i hope someone can help me understand this a bit better

Hi
it doesn't sound to me like you are getting PILON, you are actually working your notice.
So the small amount is correct I would assume0 -
Who quoted you the £2k figure? Was it is writing?
Any holiday pay due?
There is no indication of what you say of PILON, just redundancy.
If this is not want you want, money wise, you better get in touch with your employers stating that you have changed your mind0 -

Have you checked you statutory redundancy payment here http://www.direct.gov.uk/dscriptSeen it all, done it all, can't remember most of it.0

PILON stands for Payment in lieu of notice and, as already stated, as you are working your notice it doesn't apply here.
Perhaps you could ask how they arrived at the figures they have quoted, because they don't seem to be correct at all.
The amount of the statutory redundancy payment depends on your age.
From the age of 22 to 41 you get one week's pay for each complete year of service.
From 41 to 64 you get one and a half week's pay.
So if you've worked there between 22 and 41 your statutory redundancy payment should be
8 X £95 = £760.
Any enhanced redundancy payment should be in addition to this.0 -
okey thanks, obviously i don't have a clue. lol
the 2k quote was from a big list that they sent to the manager. we didn't get individual letters or anything, just filled in a pretty basic form and was told that if i went for it then thats what i'd be expected to get. the money was what swayed it for me, i thought why not, maybe go to college n actually try and do something with my life and get a part time job somewhere else and that 2k would have left me feeling a little bit secure, i know its not much but it would mean i wouldnt have to worry too much if i couldnt find another job right away and i have my fiance who pays the mortgage and everything so my moneys just spending money for me and my daughter really. but i just don't feel as happy about it now( let me put myself up for it then say "aye away you go but we're only gonna give you this much now!")
but i've put in an appeal so just see what happens.0 -
You might want to try to get a copy of the 'big list' that misled you.
From my limited understanding of voluntary redundancy;you should be informed of how much redundancy pay you would receive before any agreement is reached.0
