word document problem

basically my husbands notebook went away for repair (only 5 weeks old and burnt out the 3g mobile wireless card) they returned it after repair and hes just noticed all his windows related software is missing stuff like his trial of office and the free word document. We have a cd that came with the machine but the more technogy aware users will relise that a cd and a notebook are 2 thinks that dont mix as theres no cd drive so is there anyway around this problem without having to uninstall windows 7 ?? or pay vast sums of money

You could install this which is free but not microsoft:
    http://www.openoffice.org/

If you really want microsoft word etc. buy/borrow an external cd drive from friend... Although it's possible buying the microsoft package to download to the computer may be cheaper.

Another thought - does your netbook company offer download of the softwares you need through its website?

Id prefer to use microsoft. I know the software is in the patition of the harddrive along with windows 7 as we had to reinstall windows 7 to see if that fixed the issues with the internal 3g card and when we did it it gave him everything the laptop orginally came with but theyve returned it with barlly anything on i even had to download the 0range internet everywhere software. So in a way i was wondering if there was a way of accessing that hidden section of the harddrive to get at the programs we want without reinstalling windows 7.
Also ive emailed the computer manufactures to see if they can email us a link to the desired softwares

I can't help any further but I think others may want the computer name (manufacturer, product name) which may help find you the website if there is one.

Will the laptop connect to the internet over broadband?

Trials are normally free from http://www.microsoft.com/en/gb/default.aspx, and there's cheaper versions of the full product knocking about e.g. £50 for the full legitimate non-trial version of Office 2010 from ultimatesteal.co.uk if you have a .ac.uk address.
Not the sort of thing to download over a mobile phone link though :*)
