idle air control valve warranty issues
Will try and keep this short. Forgive me if I fail....
Have an aftermarket warranty on my car.
The car ( a mark 2 Focus) has a problem with the revs. They bounce between 600 and 1000 when in neutral and occasionally cut out while stopped or slowing down for lights and roundabouts. Not great as power steering goes as well.
I am thinking this is an issue with the idle air control valve. (which is a part specifically covered by my warranty)
The problem is that the warranty people wont authorise the repair without a fault code and the garage they suggest I use says they will be unable to get a fault code with this problem.
I have it booked in with the main dealer next week but suspect they will be in the same position and diagnose it (correctly) from the issue rather than by picking up a fault code on the diagnostics machine. There is also the issue of having to pay for both the diagnostics and the additional labour rate for the main dealer.
Wondered if anyone had any luck trying to pull a fault code on the above part or are they stipulating that simply to avoid paying out.
Cheers up front.
