Butlins Minehead - day visitor

I have friends staying at Bultins in a couple of weeks time, they have a spare room in the accomodation they've booked.

We are definately going down for a day visit, but would have liked to stay overnight, visit 2 days then leave. I've asked Butlins and they won't allow a stay less than 7 nights at that time.

Day visitors have to leave by 6pm anyway so can't stay for the evening entertainment. Once there, is there anyone I could talk to about staying - we could use my friends spare room for just 1 night. And how would they know if I stayed past 6pm?

It would be 2 adult day visitors and a car.

I'm not trying to pull a fast one but am trying to spend time with my friends and Butlins don't have the option on their computer system to let me. My other option is obviously to book a hotel locally and go in as 2-day visitors, but then we couldn't spend the evening with our friends, unless they left the site that is.

Any help you could give would be appreciated.

Just stay they will be none the wiser! I know from experience!

You may want to park in the seafront car park opposite for the duration. Get you friends to come out in their car and pick you up and then simply drive through the gate without having to pay. The driver just shows them the keycard for their room!

Only problem you may have is if they are using the wristband system (not sure if they use this anymore - used to in the peak season) as without a band they may not allow you into the evening entertainment in Reds or Centerstage. If they are not you will have no probs.

On a practical level there's not a lot they can do if you stay in your friends accomodation and keep your head down.

As others have said, getting into the entertainment may be a problem.

Not sure how much they'd charge if your friend lost his card and needed a replacement...can't be much.

Thanks for the reply's - if I took the car in and paid as a day tripper, would I get away with leaving the car parked overnight, or do they issue a ticket / clamp / ticket etc?

As far as I remember they do not allow day visitors cars in on site. as a day visitor you have to park in one of the Minehead car parks (seafront one just opposite) and walk in.

I haven't been to Minehead but sure that the other sites use different car parks for day visitors so would not be able to stay overnight in these. As the others have said they will not be able to find out that you are only a day visitor. Find a nearby car park and get your friend to come and pick you up and go back into the park with them, or get them to meet you on the sea front and walk in with them.

Last year at Skegness and Bognor they issued card passes for the entertainment and credit card keys. Just borrow your friends keys and walk into the entertainment saying that your partners are inside with the passes. Worst case scenario if they are being very strict and only letting you in with the passes then 2 go in with passes, one comes out with passes and gives to the other 2 who go in. One comes out again with the 2 passes and both go back in, but I have never known them to be that vigilant.

many times we have only booked 4 people in a self catering apartment and had 5 people in it. i end up crashing on the couch i just pack a sleeping bag with no problems just get your mate to meet you down town with the key and drive in you show the key when entering Butlins you will have no problems at all just keep quiet about it ) enjoy your holiday :O)

Go in as a day visitor and stay the night as long as you dont exit the park they wont know.
